Sonic Youth Update

Billboard and Noise Magazine have shed some interesting light on the new as-of-yet untitled Sonic Youth album (their debut on Matador Records), which is aimed at a Summer 2009 release. According to these sources, the new record will be filled with “heavy ass weirdo hooks”, musically influenced by The Wipers and lyrically influenced by Black Metal. Billboard report that Sonic Youth will play some three shows in Austria and Germany this April and are scheduled to appear at the No Fun Festival in Brooklyn this May.
