1 Jun Billboard VIC
3 Jun Club Capitol WA
5 Jun Metro Theatre NSW
7 Jun The Arena QLD

More information courtesy Live Guide:

To see past the secure foundations of convention and into an entirely new state of being demands the strength, conviction and true sense of purpose possessed only by a chosen few. They are the innovators, the leaders, the ones who transcend perceived limitations. MORBID ANGEL have consistently succeeded in shattering the musical, spiritual and ideological boundaries of extreme music while unquestionably retaining their core element of brutal and inspirational excellence.

The world was introduced to the furious intensity of the Tampa natives in 1989 with the release of ‘Altars Of Madness”. Twenty years & seven albums on, Morbid Angel still reign supreme on every level of this genre of music we call death metal. MORBID ANGEL finally return to Australian and New Zealand after 13 years to deliver us their excellence in the extreme.

Melvins Play Houdini

Melvins are going to be playing Houdini in full with Trevor Dunn on bass (with guest appearance by Mike Patton) at a few shows accross Australia. Here’s the press release:

Almost 25 years, over 25 albums and still counting, the Melvins are considered one of the godfathers of sludge metal whom heavily influenced the Seattle grunge scene back in the 90’s. With a cult following across the globe, and including original members King Buzzo (Guitar/vocals) and Dale Crover (Drums/vocals), the band has recently released ANOTHER studio album, ‘Nude With Boots’.

And in the news that their Australian fans have been waiting for, this new release has inspired the boys to hit the road again! So on Thursday 22nd January, in a VERY special, VERY intimate show at Sydney’s Annandale Hotel – get ready to experience the Melvins performing their classic album ‘HOUDINI’ – in its entirety!! This will be their ONLY Sydney show, and with a line-up of the one ‘n only Buzz Osborne, Dale Crover & Trevor Dunn (Mr Bungle) on bass…Oh my goddddd!! www.myspace.com/themelvins

Pick up tickets from the Ding Dong Lounge and The Annandale.

Here’s all the info you need for this:

NOW now 2009 Festival Program Launch

In 2009 the festival will again be held in the Blue Mountains from
16th-18th of January, based around the Wentworth Falls School of
Arts, with a packed line up of some of the sickest improvising talent
in the country, and a few from out of it. There will be gigs at
Kings Cave in Linden (one at dawn), late night events at AKEMI, some
historic films, unscheduled jammimg into the wee hours and sonic kite
flying in a park.

The festival program will be launched at a free concert on November
24th, featuring three performances.

Anthea Caddy (cello) / Thembi Soddell (electronics), whose CD ILAND
is one of the classics of exploratory music from Australia – two
young Melbourne women redefining what it means to play with
instruments and recorded sound.

Jack Dibben / Finn Ryan / Abel Cross / Aemon Webb ? four of the
best looking sonic explorers in Sydney form a boy band from hell.

+ Lloyd Swanton: a rare solo performance by Sydney’s master double
bassist. His work with The Necks has for years been a sensuous anchor
- come and hear him up close and alone.

Discounted festival passes will be available on the night, and the
program – featuring extraordinary international and Australian
musicians, new collaborations, rare films about experimental music
from Sydney.

3. Saturday 29/11/08: Pivot and My Disco at The Gaelic Club. Cost: $15.

4. Friday 28/11/08: Woev and Lloyd & Michael at Serial Space. Cost: $8/10
